The Missing released its first episode in December 2020. In the four years since, we’ve covered more than seventy missing person cases, across the UK and Ireland. In the course of our work, we’ve spoken to hundreds of people, whose brave and unvarnished testimonies have shone a light on a grim phenomenon that is underreported in our communities. Some people are overwhelmed following lengthy battles with severe mental health issues, whilst others have found themselves under too much pressure, whether familial or financial. There are those who fall down the rabbit hole of addiction and there are people who simply found themselves in the wrong place, at the wrong time, in the wrong company. By revisiting some of the interviews we’ve recorded over the past four years we hope to illustrate just some of the myriad of reasons why people go missing and paint a picture of what life is like for the loved ones left behind to pick up the pieces.
