The Menendez Brothers' Fight for Freedom, from Crime Scene Weekly

Introducing a new podcast for the true crime-obsessed: "The Crime Scene Weekly", from our friends at ABC Audio. Every Wednesday, "The Crime Scene Weekly" brings you the latest in true crime. ABC News correspondent Brad Mielke sits down with the journalists covering the cases who have direct access to survivors, investigators and families searching for answers. And they’re bringing their insights right to you. In this episode, Brad talks to ABC News reporter Matt Gutman about the resentencing effort in the 35-year-old case of the Menendez brothers, Erik and Lyle Menendez, who were charged with the murder of their parents in 1989. You’ll hear how social stigmas about masculinity and power factored into the original sentencing of the case, and get insights into the brothers’ present-day fight for their freedom. Legal Briefs BONUS -- The Adnan Syed Innocence Fraud Exposed

This is a bonus release from our sister podcast: Legal Briefs. In a legal tour de force, Baltimore State's Attorney Ivan Bates laid bare the fraud on the court perpetrated by Adnan Syed and his supporters in the failed motion to vacate his conviction produced by former State's Attorney Marylin Mosby. In 88 pages, Bates deconstructed the arguments for Syed's innocence, and by the time he was finished, there could be little doubt that Adnan Syed did, indeed, murder Hae Min Lee. Brett and Alice discuss the filing which exposed the lie of a carefully constructed innocence sham more than a decade in the making. Update: As expected, the judge did decide to allow Adnan Syed to remain free. He is still a convicted murderer.
