An author of ghost stories is excited to find his home is haunted. But the ghost doesn't take kindly to his guests. Case 26 was the first of my supernatural investigations to bear fruit. The first where I felt confident that there was no evidence that clearly disproved the subject's scary account. That this story might possibly be true. It’s hard to describe this kind of entity, whether it’s a restless spirit or a poltergeist. Green Tea by Sheridan Le Fanu (BONUS #1)

Dr Hesselius, a practitioner of ‘metaphysical medicine’, relates the case of the Reverend Mr Jennings, a genial clergyman with a not-too-genial travelling companion. The Irish author Sheridan Le Fanu is one of the all-time great authors of ghostly tales and is cited as an influence by great supernatural authors such as M.R. James, Henry James, and E.F. Benson. A master of gothic atmosphere, his stories today are remarkable for their psychological dimensions, seeming almost Freudian in their probing of human behaviour.
