Werewolves Within (2021)

This week we discuss what may possibly be the greatest video game film of all time. Thanks in part, no doubt, to seeming to bear almost no direct ties to the game. Werewolves Within is a 2021 released Comedy Horror film and mystery movie set in a small town in picturesque rural Vermont. A town already tense and resentful of each other is set on edge with a freak winter snow storm and as a dog goes missing - people begin to wonder the worst about their neighbors. The Final Girls (2015)

Happy Friday the 13th! The occasion was too good to not commemorate with a bonus episode. We're discussing Todd Strauss-Schulson's 2015 surreal slasher fantasy film, The Final Girls. Starring AHS alum Taissa Farmiga as Max, the daughter of the actress in a slasher movie who is transported inside with her friends to relive the movie. Its a comedic, playful deconstruction and homage to 80s slashers. Warning - this episode gets a little heavier than intended and we get into discussions of both misogyny and ableism through the episode so please be aware. Dread Nation by Justina Ireland

Announcing our new podcast - Lovelist Reads. To help our current listeners know about it, we are sharing it here as well but in the future this will only be in its own feed. For our first episode of Lovelist Reads, we begin with Dread Nation by Justina Ireland. A little late to the party as this wonderful book was released in 2018, it had sat on our shelves longer than it should have for its quality. A brilliant, thought-provoking story wrapped up in the fun and easy adventure of a historical zombie story. Set after the dead began to rise after the Battle of Gettysburg, we follow a heroine by the name of Jane McKeene. Jane is a mixed race young woman who attends Miss Preston's School of Combat which exists to train young Black women to be the Attendandants, well behaved bodyguards to wealthy women. Enjoy this review and don't have the book? Please check out one of the book stores on this list to order it from: we discuss those who have been murdered by Austin Police in this episode, if you are interested in supporting the cause of justice here check out Austin Justice Coalition here: more information about us check out unrulycats.com or follow us on Twitter @LovelistPodcast

Fear Street Trilogy (2021)

We return back to Netflix's Fear Street for a (for now) final recap episode after a rewatch of the three films back to back to capture our thoughts. This has been a fun ride and we've been giddy about it. Hit us up if you have more queer horror you'd like us to dive into, its definitely our biggest jam but with decades of movies, centuries of books we know we'll never get to everything. If you've enjoyed us - check out our friends over at The Witchery Podcast - they dig into the behind the scenes stories of some of our favorite horror movies, and with Jennifer's Body being a recent episode was definitely on the mind: always, you can reach out to us at [email protected] or follow us on Twitter @LovelistPodcast
